About Us

Welcome to Rosebud Theatre Group

where the magic of theatre meets the heart of the community!

In 2021Southern Peninsula Players and Rosebud Astral theatre became Rosebud Theatre Group. SPP was formed in 1952 and is still going strong as one of Victoria’s oldest community, not-for-profit theatre groups. We enjoy the use of the Rosebud Memorial Hall on the beautiful foreshore of Port Phillip Bay in Rosebud on Victoria's exciting Mornington Peninsula. (Melways 158 D-12).

There is 60 Years experience between the two groups and while we start a new era, we haven’t lost sight of who we are.

At RTG, we believe that the world of theatre is for everyone. Our mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming space where people of all diverse abilities and cultures can come together to experience the joy of Performance and Production. Whether you're a seasoned performer, a curious newcomer, or someone who wants to learn about all the backstage stuff or a person who simply loves to watch a good show, there's a place for you here.

 Our Vision

We aim to educate and involve our community in the wonderful world of theatre. Through rehearsals and workshops, performances, and hands-on experiences, we strive to make theatre accessible to all. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and share their unique stories.

We host a variety of events, from cabaret nights to trivia nights, fundraisers and to community theatre productions, where local talent can shine. We also offer educational workshops to help people of all ages and abilities learn about the different aspects of theatre, from acting and directing to set design, stage management, lighting and sound.

The PlayBILL

At RTG  we offer a diverse range of performances to cater to all tastes and interests.

Our mainstage productions feature a mix of classic plays, contemporary dramas, and beloved musicals. These performances showcase the talents of our community actors and provide a platform for both seasoned performers and newcomers to shine.

We believe in the power of community storytelling. Our community theatre productions are open to all, encouraging participation from people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. These shows often highlight local stories and themes, making them especially meaningful to our audience.

Our youth theatre program is designed to introduce young people to the magic of performance. Every second year we do a junior musical or a play designated to adolescent themes and or stories.
